Vedmid-Hora
Bear Mountain, aka Ayu-Dag, is one of the most recognizable silhouettes of the Southern coast of Crimea. From a distance, the rock really looks like a giant bear that fell to the sea to drink, and it is this image that gave it its name.
Geologists say that it is an "unfinished" volcano: the magma once came to the surface, but never broke through, solidifying as a laccolith massif. The mountain rises between Gurzuf and Partenit and has long been a decoration of the local coast.
The slopes are covered with a forest with rare plants, and wide views open from the sea side. The walk to the top is not difficult, but the panorama of the coast justifies every step.
