Roman-Kosh
Roman-Kosh is the highest point of the Crimean Mountains, 1545 meters. There is nothing higher than it in the Crimea, only the sky. It stands on the Babugan-yayla massif, within the Yalta district, and is composed of typical Crimean limestone.
The name is Turkic: from orman (forest) and qos (temporary shepherd of a house or pen). Once upon a time, shepherds with their sheep felt at home here.
There are several paths to the top - from Krasnokamyanka through the Gurzuf saddle, from Yalta or Ai-Petri, from Angarsky pass along the Konyok ridge. Just keep in mind: formally, the mountain lies in the Crimean nature reserve, and officially it is forbidden to enter it.
