Demerdzhi
Demerji is a mountain massif of the Main Range of the Crimean Mountains, rising to 1,228 meters above the village of Luchyste near Alushta. The name comes from the Crimean Tatar demirji, i.e. blacksmith, and the medieval Greeks called the mountain Funa - the one that smokes.
Demerji looks different from the neighboring mountains, and it is not by chance: if they are composed of pure limestone, then pebbles and boulders cemented with lime are mixed into the rock. Hence the whimsical relief of the Valley of Ghosts - weathered rocks resembling figures and silhouettes. The most famous of them is Kateryna's Head, which is visible from the Simferopol-Yalta highway.
The mountain has a habit of throwing stones: large landslides occurred here in 1894, 1968 and 1982. Therefore, it is better not to linger unnecessarily under the steep slopes, and at the foot it is worth looking at the ruins of the Funa fortress.

The mountain likes to throw stones: large landslides occurred here in 1894, 1968 and 1982, leaving a chaos of boulders in the volume of millions of cubic meters. Do not hang around on steep slopes unnecessarily.
Where did the name Funa come from?
During the Middle Ages, the Greeks called Mount Funa - "the one that smokes." So the blacksmith theme in the titles is based on different languages.
