Valley pryvydiv
The Valley of Ghosts is a slope of the Demerji mountain massif in the Crimea, dotted with more than a hundred stone figures. There is no mysticism: wind, rain and sun have been grinding the conglomerates for millions of years, until they have become like people and animals.
The main star of the valley is a pillar nicknamed the Giant, 25 meters high and 5 meters in diameter. And there is a rock here, nicknamed the Profile of Catherine II: it can be seen even from the Simferopol-Alushta highway, if you know where to look. The figures change their appearance depending on the light, so the morning and evening give the most interesting silhouettes, and when the fog descends on the valley, the stone ghosts become completely convincing.
The nearest city is Alushta, you can get there on the Simferopol-Alushta highway, and further up the slope of Demerji you can walk. The valley has been under protection since 1960 as a natural monument, more than 400 species of plants grow here, among them the rare yew, so you should also look under your feet.
