The Northern Refuge is a high-altitude camp on the northern route of the ascent of Elbrus, at an altitude of about 3,800 m. It is the base point for those who go to the summit from the north, by the same route that the mountain was conquered for the first time in 1829.
The road here leads from Emmanuel's glade (about 2,500 m), where they are taken from Kislovodsk by SUVs, and further equipment and people are already climbing on foot. There are shelters-huts for rest and acclimatization: the northern side of Elbrus is wilder and less crowded than the southern, but more modestly furnished.
