FAQFrequently asked questions

What is Mazeri and where is it anyway?

This is a small mountain village in Svaneti, in the north-west of Georgia - i.e. deep Caucasus. It lies on the left bank of the Dolra River, the right tributary of the Inguri.

At what height will you be if you get there?

The village sits at 1,614 meters above sea level. It is quite modest for Svaneti, but the difference is noticeable to the ears and lungs.

How to get there?

The landmark is the town of Mestia, the main hub of Svaneti. Mazeri is about 9 kilometers northwest of it (in a straight line), so first you get to Mestia, and then to the village.

Should we expect a large human settlement?

No. According to the 2014 census, about 159 people lived here, almost all Georgians. This is a quiet mountain community, not a resort town.
