Lenz Rocks (lower)

Lenz Rocks (lower)

Mountain 📍 Caucasus

Lenz Rocks - a group of rock outcrops on the slope of Elbrus, one of the main landmarks on the classic climbing route. The lower rocks are the first to come across: here the climbers check the time, catch their breath and assess the weather before going higher.

They are named after the scientist Emilius Lenz, who explored these regions back in the 19th century. Among the snow and ice, dark stones can be seen from afar, so they act as a natural signpost on the endless white slope.
