Lago Skottsberg

Lake Scottsberg is one of those turquoise mirrors for which people go to the Chilean Torres del Paine National Park. It lies in the very heart of Patagonia, and it got its name in honor of the Swedish botanist Karl Skottsberg, who studied these harsh regions at the beginning of the 20th century.

The lake is conveniently included in the famous W track: it is about halfway between the shelter and the observation deck of the French Valley, so even those who did not plan a long hook can turn here. The sharp horns of the Los Cuernos massif are reflected in the calm water - a landscape that is photographed by itself.

It is best to come here in the Patagonian summer, from November to March. The weather here is treacherous, the wind can knock you off your feet, so take clothes for all four seasons in one day.
