Lago Grey
Lake Gray is a glacial lake in Torres del Paine National Park in southern Chile, in the Magallanes region. It lies almost at sea level, about 45 meters higher, and is fed by the glacier of the same name.
Grey glacier dumps ice fragments into the lake, so small icebergs, so-called bergy bits, float in bluish water here. The lake is about 16.5 kilometers long, and reaches about 410 meters at its deepest point, so the icebergs have a place to disappear.
The main show is the glacier itself with its ice front, and along the way there is also local flora, in particular the fiery red Chilean firebush (Embothrium coccineum). Excess water flows from the lake through the Gray River further into the Patagonian expanses.
