Lake Nordenskjöld

Lake Nordenskjöld

Lake Nordenskjöld is one of the turquoise lakes of the Torres del Paine National Park, spread out at the foot of the jagged Cuernos del Paine. It owes its rich color to glacial flour - the smallest dust that the melting water brings down from the mountains.

The lake is named after the Swedish polar explorer Otto Nordenskjöld. Part of the classic route around the massif passes by it, so the view of sharp peaks above bright water has been seen by almost everyone who has walked the trails here.
