Sevastopol
Sevastopol is a city on the southwestern edge of Crimea, founded at the end of the 18th century around one of the most convenient natural harbors of the Black Sea. Hence its entire fate: a military port, a fortress and a city that was stubbornly held on to during two defenses.
For a tourist, it is first and foremost the Tavrian Chersonesus - the ruins of an ancient city just within the modern boundaries, as well as numerous bays, embankments and panoramas. Travelers usually mention Sevastopol as a convenient starting point for south-western Crimea with its cave cities and canyons.
