Gropa
FAQFrequently asked questions
What is Gropa and what is its height?
This is a 1,759-meter-high peak in the Gorgan massif, on the Bratkiv ridge. It sits just on the border of two regions - Zakarpattia and Ivano-Frankivsk, so you can keep one foot in Zakarpattia and the other in Prykarpattia.
How to get there?
The approaches are from the villages of Brustura or Bystrytsia. You can't get to the very top by car - you can only walk further, as befits real Gorgans.
What is up there and is it easy to walk?
There is no forest on the top and nearby slopes - solid stones and thickets of mountain pine (the same one that clings to your pants). The forests are already beginning below, so the view from above is not blocked by anything.
What peaks can be seen nearby?
Nearby are Durnya (1709 m) in the northwest and Bratkivska (1788 m) in the southwest. The valley of the Turba River descends to the south.
Is there anything nature conservation nearby?
Yes, the Richansky botanical reserve and the Verkhne Ozerishche nature complex are located nearby - just in case the scenery alone is not enough for you.
