Paşabağ (Monks Valley)

Paşabağ (Monks Valley)

Attraction 📍 Cappadocia

Paşabağ, also called Monks Valley, sits on the road between Avanos and Göreme and shows Cappadocia's oddest fairy chimneys: tall pillars with double and triple basalt caps. Hermits carved cells and tiny chapels into the soft tuff; some pillars stand alone, others merge with neighbouring cliffs. It is the clearest place to see how wind erosion leaves a hard basalt hat on softer volcanic rock.
