Karanlık Kilise

Historic site 📍 Cappadocia

Karanlık Kilise, the Dark Church, is an eleventh-century rock-cut chapel in a far corner of the Göreme museum, named for its single tiny window. That very gloom preserved its frescoes: the Nativity, Baptism, Last Supper and Crucifixion keep their vivid colour better than almost anywhere else in Cappadocia. For this reason it charges a separate admission from the rest of the museum.
