What is Jily-Su?
Resort area in Kabardino-Balkaria (Zolsky district), on the northern slope of Elbrus. Known for a bunch of thermal springs and waterfalls - this is where people go to warm their bones in warm water.
Where did the name come from?
From Karachay-Balkar Dzhila-Su is translated as warm water, and from Kabardino-Circassian - as healing. That is, the name honestly warns you about what you came for.
What waterfalls are worth seeing here?
The main star is Siltran-Su waterfall (aka Sultan-Su) 40 meters high. There are three more nearby: Kyzylkol-Su, Karakaya-Su and Gitche-Chuchhur.
How to get there?
An asphalted road leads to the tract, and the Malka River is crossed by a bridge, so you won't have to wade to get there. This significantly simplifies life compared to many mountainous points of the Caucasus.
What is there to do here besides taking pictures of waterfalls?
Why was everything started - thermal springs. The place lives up to the reputation of a resort, so the main entertainment is obvious: diving into warm mineral water against the background of northern Elbrus.
