Bakhchisaray
Bakhchisaray is a city in the foothills of southwestern Crimea, the former capital of the Crimean Khanate. The name itself translates as "garden-palace", and its main decoration keeps this promise: the Khan's Palace with courtyards, fountains and the famous "fountain of tears".
But the city is also valuable because it lies in the very heart of the region of cave cities. From here you can reach Chufut-Kale, the Assumption Cave Monastery and the rocky massifs of the surrounding valleys, so Bakhchisarai often becomes a base for hiking trips around the area.
