River 📍 Crimea

FAQFrequently asked questions

What is Raspberry Stream?

This is a small, rather low-water mountain river (essentially a stream) on the Main Range of the Crimean Mountains. It has a couple more names - Yeni-Sala and Egerlyk-Su, so don't be surprised if it is called differently on different maps.

Where does it flow and how long is it?

It flows in the Simferopol district of Crimea, near the village of Perevalne. It is about 6.5 km long, with a pool area of slightly more than 10 square km. It flows into the Angara River, which already carries water into the Salgyru system and further to the Sea of Azov.

Where does the stream begin?

The source is the Musarach spring (Korita) on Mount Zamana, at an altitude of about 1016 m. That is, it has a completely mountainous start, from a decent height.

How to get there and what to focus on?

The most convenient reference point is the village of Perevalne on the Simferopol-Alushta highway, from there there is a stream nearby. On the way up, keep in the direction of Mount Zamana, where the leak is hiding.

What is interesting about the name?

The name Yeni-Sala came from the old village (now Chaikovske), and the variant Egerlyk-Su is roughly translated as the water of the saddle: the Turkic eger means saddle and suv means water. A small river, and three names are enough.
