Kokiya-Kaya
Kokiya-Kaya (in full Kokiya-Kaya-Bash, or Kokiya-Kala) is the highest peak of Cape Ayia, approximately 558 meters high. This is a flat-topped mountain that cuts off to the sea with a huge vertical wall and actually forms the famous rocky promontory in the south-west of Crimea.
It lies near Batiliman, a few kilometers south of the village of Goncharne. From the top, there are breathtaking views of the sea and coastal cliffs - one of the highest on the Crimean coast.
The place also has a deep history: researchers believe that a medieval Byzantine settlement, monastery and fortifications once stood on Kokia-Kai. So there is not only a rock underfoot here, but also a lot of the past.
