Cape Aya
Cape Aya is a steep edge of the Main Range of the Crimean Mountains, which juts straight into the Black Sea to the southeast of Balaklava. The mountains here fall into the water almost without acceleration: the highest point, the rock of Kokia-Kiya, reaches 558 meters, so the sight is appropriate.
This is a protected corner: the cape is included in the landscape reserve Mys Aya, where the relict grove of Stankevich pine and Mediterranean sparse forest grows. Nature has been protecting its flora since the time when people were not around.
On the top, traces of an ancient building have been preserved - whether it was a temple or a lighthouse, and no one can say for sure. And the cape got into Aivazovsky's painting, so the landscape is a proven classic. The most convenient start is from Balaklava, along the paths along the cliffs, so take care of comfortable shoes in advance.
