What is the Great Canyon of Crimea?

This is a gorge in the Crimean Mountains between the Boyka and Ai-Petri massifs, about 3 km long. In some places, the depth reaches 320 meters, and the walls approach 3-5 meters - the space is small, but impressive.

How to get there?

The canyon lies near the highway connecting Yalta and Bakhchisarai, so it is convenient to start from any side. Then - on foot along the bottom of the Auzun-Uzen river.

When is the best time to go to the canyon?

Summer and autumn, when there is little rain. After heavy rains, it is dangerous here - stones fly from above, and water arrives quickly.

What is interesting to see inside?

Blue Lake, the powerful karst spring of Pania and the famous Bath of Youth - a natural pool where the water does not heat up above 11 degrees. Bathing is invigorating, to say the least.

What is the unique nature of the canyon?

Over one and a half thousand yew trees grow here - relict trees of the Tertiary period, and many more orchids. There are trout in the river, and deer and badgers inhabit the slopes.
