Danilcha-Koba

Danilcha-Koba

Danylcha-Koba is a karst grotto on the slope of Mount Sedam-Kaya, in the Bakhchisaray district of Crimea. It is one large hall, about 12 by 14 meters, with a wide triangular entrance more than ten meters wide, so it is not difficult to spot it.

Inside is a small underground lake with cold water: the temperature here is around +7...+8 °C all year round. From time to time, the water level rises by almost two meters, so it is better not to even think about swimming.

At the entrance, archaeologists found the remains of a medieval one-apse temple, so once they came here not only for water. The grotto received nature protection status back in 1964, and today it is both a geological and archaeological monument, which is only worth looking at.
