Mountain 📍 Patagonia

Perito Moreno (Perito Moreno) is one of the most famous glaciers in the world, located in Los Glaciares National Park in the south of Argentine Patagonia. It slides from the Southern Patagonian Icefield right into the waters of Lake Lago Argentino.

Perito Moreno is famous primarily for the fact that it is one of the few glaciers that does not retreat, but keeps its shape. Its tongue regularly breaks off huge blocks of ice, which fall with a roar into the water, and from time to time the ice covers the arm of the lake and later spectacularly breaks through.

The most convenient base for the trip is the town of El Calafate. Viewing platforms have been laid to the glacier, so anyone, not just climbers, can see this ice wall up close. It is named after researcher Francisco Moreno.
