Chatir-Dag

Mountain 📍 Crimea

FAQFrequently asked questions

What is Chatyr-Dag and what is its height?

This is a Yayla mountain massif in the Crimean Mountains, the fifth highest in the region. The highest point is the peak of Eklizi-Burun (1527 m), the second is Angar-Burun (1453 m).

How to get there?

The most convenient entrance is through the Angar Pass, from where you can climb both the lower and the upper plateau. At the same time, the sea is about 10 km away.

What to see in Chatyr Dagu?

The main attraction of the lower plateau is the equipped caves: Marmurova, Emine-Bair-Khosar and Emine-Bair-Koba. And from the upper plateau there are wide views of half of the Crimea.

Why is Chatyr-Dag called the kingdom of caves?

This is a classic karst area: more than 200 caves and more than a thousand karst sinkholes - the highest density among all Crimean islands. There is a place to get lost underground.

When is the best time to go?

The massif is popular - the lower plateau is visited by at least 40,000 people a year. The warm half of the year is the most convenient for caves and walks on the plateau, because in winter it is cold and windy up there.
