Angarskiy pereval
Angar Pass is a mountain pass in central Crimea at an altitude of 752 meters, the highest point on the road between Simferopol and Alushta. It lies on the Main Range of the Crimean Mountains between the Chatyr-Dag and Demerji massifs.
The easiest way to get here is the Simferopol-Alushta highway, by car or by bus. The legendary Crimean trolleybus once passed here, and in 2012 a monument was even erected in its honor. The slopes are covered with a forest of oak, hornbeam, beech and aspen, the place is green and shady, so the heat is easier to bear than on the coast. The Bukova Grove lies nearby, and in winter the slopes are used for skiing.
The pass also has a long history: it has been of strategic importance since the time of Byzantium. In 1774, a battle took place here, in which the future Russian general Kutuzov lost an eye, and the first normal road was laid as early as 1826.
