Polonyna Krasna
FAQFrequently asked questions
What is Polonanny Krasna?
Mountain ridge in Transcarpathia, part of the Polony ridge of the Ukrainian Carpathians. It stretches in several connected arcs from the north-west to the south-east, affecting Tyachiv and Khust districts.
What is the highest point here?
Among the named peaks, the highest is Siglansky, 1563 m. The rest are within the range of approximately 1365-1548 m, so there will be an increase in height, but not extreme.
What grows here and what to expect at the top?
Up to a height of approximately 1300-1500 m, the slopes are covered with forest, mainly beech. Higher up, the forest recedes, and the same meadows begin - alpine meadows, for which they climb here.
Is this a protected area?
Yes, part of the ridge is included in the Ugolsko-Shyrokoluzhansky reserve massif and the Synevyr national park, plus the nearby Kernychnyi botanical reserve. That is, you should behave politely.
Where to focus on the terrain?
The ridge is sandwiched between the valleys of the Tereblia and Teresva rivers, so it is from these valleys and the villages along them that the routes to the polony are laid.
