What is Kolochava and where to find it?

This is a mountain village at an altitude of 631 meters in a valley, in the Khust district of Transcarpathia. It lies within the Synevyr National Park, 26 kilometers from the district center.

What made Kolochava famous?

The local robber Mykola Shugai, who robbed the rich for the benefit of the poor. Czech writer Ivan Olbracht lived in the village for six years and made a novel out of this story, which spread the fame of Kolochava far beyond the Carpathians.

What to see here?

As many as 10 museums in one village - the open-air museum of folk architecture "Stare Selo", the narrow-gauge museum, museums of old schools and defensive structures of the Second World War above the Tereblya River. As for a mountain nook, the cultural program is dense.

Is there anywhere to go to the mountains from here?

Yes, there are marked trails through the neighborhood - for example, to the Krasna ridge and to the village of Ust-Chorna. The routes are suitable for hikers, cyclists, and off-road enthusiasts.
