Pop-Ivan Marmarosky

Pop-Ivan Marmarosky is one of the main peaks of the Marmarosky (crystalline) massif, on the very border of Ukraine and Romania. This is a wild, sparsely populated part of the Carpathians, which is often called the Hutsul Alps - for its sharp ridges and harsh, almost alpine character.

The slopes here are steeper and stonier than in neighboring Montenegro, and the trail runs along the state border, so the scenery opens up on two sides at once - the Ukrainian Rakhiv Region and the Romanian Maramures. The place is remote, which is why it is valuable: there are few people, there is a lot of space.
