Teberda-Arkhyz is an easy trek that can be recommended for a first journey to the Caucasus. The route runs along roads and trails (that is, without technical obstacles or off-trail sections), but it involves large elevation gains reaching up to 1000 m. So good physical fitness will not go amiss on this Caucasus trek.

Day by dayItinerary

1

Day 1. Teberda - Muhu River.

The group meeting begins at 10 am at the Nevinnomyssk railway station (many trains go through it). We distribute food, check equipment, and load into a custom minibus that will take us to Teberda. On the way we stop at the Ministry of Emergency Situations to register and go to the store to buy more groceries. In Teberda we repack our backpacks and our trek through the Caucasus begins! (from the rise, of course).

2

Day 2. Muhu River - Mukhinsky Pass (2764) - Marka River.

Today our journey will continue the ascent along the left bank of the Muhu River. During the day we will ford various streams and rivulets 6-7 times. If you bring sandals, don't hide them deep in your backpack.

During a rest, turning back to the east towards the opposite slope, you can see the deep Dzhemagat gorge with an equally stormy river, and in clear weather Elbrus, the highest mountain in the Caucasus, can be seen behind it.

3

Day 3. Marka River - Aksaut River Valley - Kyzyl-Aush River.

4

Day 4. Kyzyl-Aush river - Kyzyl-Aush pass (2871) - Marukhinsky stream.

Our serpentine path goes up to a valley ledge covered with pine forest. After 1.5 hours of ascent, the forest thins out, gradually turning into a meadow. About 3 more hours of climbing - and we are at the Kyzyl-Aush pass, at an altitude of 2871 m above sea level! This is the highest point of our Teberda-Arkhyz hike!

5

Day 5. Valley of the Marukha River.

6

Day 6. Marukha River - Ozerny Pass (2500m) - Rapochai Stream.

7

Day 7. Day.

Let's enjoy the peace. If you wish, you can visit several mountain lakes located nearby, take a photo on a snowfield, sniff all the flowers in the valley, or just take a nap until lunch.

8

Day 8. Rapochai stream - the valley of the Bolshoy Zelenchuk river.

9

Day 9. Arkhyz.

A few kilometers and we are in Arkhyz. Our trek from Teberda has come to an end. From Arkhyz you can go to Cherkessk and then Nevinnomyssk to the railway station. Take return tickets for trains that depart from Nevinnomyssk no earlier than 18:00.
