It has a shared kitchen, laundry, electric pitches and coin-operated hot showers. The season runs April to November, and its position halfway along the south coast makes it a handy stop for Skógafoss and Dyrhólaey.

When is the Vik campsite open?
The Vik campsite is open from 20 April to 1 November 2026. It is one of the busiest sites on the south coast, so in peak season it is worth arriving early to grab a good spot. Outside those dates the campsite is closed.
How much is a night and what is included?
A night costs 3,000 ISK per person and already includes WiFi and the shared kitchen and dining halls. Showers are paid separately, which is standard practice at Icelandic campsites. The fee is charged per guest, so the total depends on the number of people.
What facilities does the Vik campsite have?
The site has modern washrooms with cold and warm running water, paid showers, and a shared kitchen and dining halls. There is free internet, plus a dedicated spot for emptying and cleaning car-toilet cassettes. Cottages have recently been added for a more comfortable stay.
Is there electricity for campers?
Yes, electricity is available for campers and caravans. The site is flat and spacious, making it comfortable for both tents and large motorhomes. Motorhome travellers will especially appreciate the on-site point for emptying cassette toilets.
What is there to see near Vik?
Vik i Myrdal sits beside one of Iceland's most iconic sights, the black-sand Reynisfjara beach with its basalt columns and the Reynisdrangar sea stacks offshore. Nearby is the Dyrholaey promontory with its stone arch and summer puffin colonies. It is an ideal base for exploring the south coast and its surrounding waterfalls.
