Svartifoss

Waterfall 📍 Iceland

Svartifoss ("Black Falls", 20 m) in Skaftafell (Vatnajökull National Park) drops into an amphitheatre of black hexagonal basalt columns - frozen lava. These very columns inspired the tower of Hallgrímskirkja church in Reykjavík. A walk of about 1.5 hours uphill from the visitor centre leads to it.
