Nevitskiy zamok
Nevytskyi Castle - the ruins of a medieval fortress on a mountain above the Uzh River, near the village of Kamianitsa, twelve kilometers northeast of Uzhhorod. The first fortifications were built here in the 13th century, so the stones you are scratching on are well over seven hundred years old.
The castle was attacked twice: first by the Mongol-Tatars in 1241, and finally it was destroyed by the Transylvanian voivode György Rákotsi in 1644. Since then, the fortress has not been completely rebuilt, but ramparts with a moat, a defensive wall with towers, an entry tower and an old well have been preserved.
In 2019-2021, restoration was carried out here and the quadrangular donjon was restored. The landmark for the road is Uzhhorod, and the final stretch to the castle will have to be climbed up on foot: it should stand on a hill.
