Nevitske
Nevytske is a place in Transcarpathia, known primarily for the Nevitske Castle, which stands in picturesque ruins on a wooded hill near the village of Kamianitsa in the Uzhgorod district. It was once a formidable fortress with three lines of defense.
The history of the fortress began somewhere in the 12th century with an earthen fortification; it was made of stone by the Druget family after 1328, and in 1644, the Transylvanian prince Djordj Rakotsi destroyed the castle. Today you can see the remains of a square keep, fragments of walls and towers, the main one of which was restored in 2019-2021.
The easiest way to get to it from Uzhhorod is the castle is only a few kilometers from the city, on the road to Perechyn, and the climb up the hill is short. There is even a sign hanging on the site that supposedly it was this fortress that inspired Jules Verne's "Castle in the Carpathians"; version is doubtful, but tourists like it.
