Uzhgorod

Uzhgorod

The regional center of Transcarpathia and the westernmost large city of Ukraine, close to the very border with Slovakia. It stands on the Uzh River, from which it got its name.

For a traveler, Uzhhorod is cozy cobbled streets, a long linden alley along the embankment, an old castle and a coffee culture of which the city is sincerely proud. In the spring, people go here to see the blooming cherry blossoms.

It is also a convenient gateway to the Ukrainian Carpathians and to foreign countries: from here you can reach the mountains and the borders of several neighboring countries.
