Tisa
Tysa is the main river of Transcarpathia and the largest tributary of the Danube. It originates a little above Rakhov, where the Black and White Tisza rivers merge, and if we count from the source of the Black Tisza, it reaches about 1015 km.
From the Carpathians, it passes through five countries - Ukraine, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and Serbia - and finally flows into the Danube near the Serbian Novi Sad. In the Ukrainian part, it is lined with Rakhiv, Tyachiv, Hust and Chop, so it is easy to combine a walk on the water with a city tour.
The floodplains of the Tisza keep a rich flora and fauna, and a special feature is the annual "blooming of the Tisza", when thousands of insects emerge en masse over the water. A spectacle for which some come specially.
