Dzhur-Dzhur
FAQFrequently asked questions
What kind of waterfall is this and how big is it?
Jur-Jur - the most full-water waterfall in Crimea. The water falls from a height of about 16 meters in four cascades, and it itself lies at a height of 472 meters above sea level.
Where did such a fun name come from?
There are several versions, but they all boil down to one thing: "the one who murmurs." Some derive it from the Armenian "djur-dhur" (water-water), some from the Iranian root about the murmur of a stream. In short, the name is the sound you will hear on the spot.
Where is it and how to get there?
You need to look for it in the Khaphal Gorge in the Crimean Mountains, near the village of Generalske, on the East Ulu-Uzen River. A forest road leads from the village to the waterfall.
What is interesting to see nearby?
Before the main waterfall, the stream passes through three natural baths with famous names - Youth, Beauty and Health. And there is also a cave with the same name Jur-Jur nearby, if humming is not enough for you.
When to go to find water?
Jur-Jur holds water all year round - the average consumption is about 0.27 cubic meters per second, so you will hardly see it dry. It is most spectacular in the months of full water, after rains and melting snow.
