FAQFrequently asked questions

What is Dovbushanka and how tall is she?

This is a mountain range in the Gorgan massif in the Ukrainian Carpathians. The highest point reaches about 1755 meters - the main peak is called Dovbushanka.

Where exactly is it located?

In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, in the Nadvirnyan district. Nearby are the villages of Bystrytsia, Zelena and Chernyk, through which they usually enter.

Is it possible to go there freely?

Formally - no. The entire ridge lies within the boundaries of the Gorgana nature reserve, so tourism is officially prohibited there, although this rarely stops those who want to. Before going, it is better to understand the permissions.

What is interesting here besides the peaks themselves?

Relict cedar pine from the Tertiary period, century-old spruce forests, brown bears, lynx and woodpeckers. At the foot there is even an artificial lake with trout.

Is it difficult to get here?

Gorgans are famous for stone outcrops, so you can't call it a walk - prepare sturdy shoes and plenty of time. In addition to the main Dovbushanka, there are Vedmezhy and Pikun peaks, and further to the east - Polensky massif.
