What is Breakthrough and how tall is it?
This is a block-type cascading waterfall on the Prut River in the city of Yaremche. Заввишки лише близько 8 метрів, але потужність потоку компенсує скромні цифри з лишком.
Where is it and how to get there?
Waterfall right in Yaremche (Ivano-Frankivsk Region), in the lower part of Yaremche Canyon, on the territory of the Carpathian National Nature Park. You won't have to look for it - it is in the very center of the resort, next to the souvenir market.
What to see on the spot?
A bridge hangs over the waterfall at a height of 20 meters, from which thrill-seekers jump. Below, the stream calms down in a deep depression, and from here a marked route leads to the Yavirnyk ridge.
Is it safe to get close?
The stones near the water are slippery, and the current is strong, so heroics are unnecessary here. It is better to admire from a safe distance than to appear later in the reports of rescuers.
Why such a name - Breakthrough?
The rod literally made its way through the stable Yamnen sandstones above and the softer mudstones and siltstones below. The water worked for a long time and stubbornly - hence the Break.
