Sokoline
FAQFrequently asked questions
What is Sokoline and where is it?
This is a mountain village in the Bakhchysaray District of Crimea, on the banks of the Kokkozka River at the foot of the Main Range of the Crimean Mountains. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 281 meters above sea level.
Why was the village called Kokkozy?
Until 1945, the village was called Kokkozy - from Crimean Tatar it literally means "blue eye" (kok - blue, koz - eye). Sokoline was given its modern name after the deportation.
What is worth seeing here?
The main decoration is the Yusupov Palace, the hunting lodge of Prince Yusupov. Nearby are three old mosques that have the status of monuments (Yusupovskaya, Bulgakovskaya and Kutlerskaya), and a little further the Silver Streams waterfall.
What is nearby for active recreation?
From here you can reach the Grand Canyon of the Crimea, and the Ai-Petri Pass leads through the mountains to the South Bank in the direction of Yalta. A convenient base so as not to storm everything in one day.
How to get there?
Buses go to the village from Sevastopol, Simferopol and Bakhchisaray. The "At the Mountain River" tourist center and the "Orlyny Zalit" tourist and wellness complex operate on the site.
