FAQFrequently asked questions
What are Lynxes and why is there so much fuss about them?
This is a mountain in the High Tatras on the border of Poland and Slovakia. Its northern peak (2499 m) is the highest point in Poland, so for Poles it is almost a pilgrimage.
How many peaks are there really?
As many as three. The central one reaches 2501 m (already Slovakia), the northern one - 2499 m (the same Polish record holder), and the southern one - 2473 m.
Which side is easier to climb?
From the Slovak slope, the path is easier, from the Polish - significantly more difficult. Choose according to the state of your knees and your ambitions.
Did you ever need a passport at the top?
Until 2008, until Poland joined Schengen, there was a seasonal border crossing. Now go freely, no one can stamp documents.
Have an interesting climbing story?
The first documented ascent dates back to the summer of 1840. And the communists spread an unconfirmed legend that Lenin himself climbed here around 1913-1914.
