FAQFrequently asked questions

What is Eagle Pepper?

This is a mountain route in the Polish High Tatras, about 4.5 km long. There are ladders, chains and metal steps waiting for you on the steep sections - so you will need your hands no less than your legs.

How difficult and dangerous is it?

This is the most difficult and most dangerous trail in all Tatras, only for experienced people. Since the route was laid, more than 120 people have died here - the stone underfoot does not always hold, so there is no place for the inexperienced.

From where and where does the route lead?

Start from Zavrat pass (2159 m), finish at Krzyzhne pass (2112 m). The highest point of the road is Kozyachy Verkh, 2291 m.

How long does the passage take?

In the summer, the full passage takes about 6-8 hours. Leave early and don't count on a walking pace.

Are there any traffic rules here?

Yes, since 2007, one-way traffic has been introduced on the steepest section - so that people do not push themselves on the rocks and do not multiply the statistics of accidents. The route itself was laid at the beginning of the 20th century, in 1903-1911.
