Kasprowy Wierch

This is a 1,987-meter-high mountain in the Western Tatras, on the very Polish-Slovak border (the peak is a little on the Polish side). One of the most famous tourist magnets of the Polish Tatras.

A working cable car, which was built back in 1935-1936, is one of the oldest in Europe. Halfway, near the Myslenitsky Turns, you have to change to another carriage. It takes about three hours to walk from the bottom, but the queue for the cable car in the peak season can also stretch for the same three hours.

A restaurant, an information point, ski lifts and a meteorological observatory, which was built here in 1938. The Polish side of the mountain is a popular place for skiing.

The climate here is mountainous, there is no such thing as a warm summer. For hiking, it is most comfortable from June to August, but the snow lies from October to April - in March, its layer is thickest, so it is the season for skiers.

Poles made the first winter ascent around 1890. And in 1961, the astronomer Kazimir Kordylevsky photographed the mysterious Kordylevsky dust clouds near the Earth from here - so that the mountain stood out even in space observations.
