Uzhok
Uzhok is a mountain village in Transcarpathia near the Uzhok pass, at an altitude of about 567 meters. Here, in the mountains, the Uzh River originates, from which the village got its name. Uzhok is considered the easternmost village of Lemkiv region.
The main decoration of the village is the wooden church of St. Michael of 1745, which bizarrely mixed Boykiv and Lemkiv building traditions. Nearby is the Uzhochsky Pass with monuments and military burials from the times of both world wars. Once there was a spa with mineral baths, and the springs had respectable names - Hercules, Laszlo, Bela and Marcha.
The village is small: around half a thousand people live here all the time. The best time to visit is from late spring to early fall, when the mountains are at their best and the path to the pass is easily covered on foot.
