Alimova balka
FAQFrequently asked questions
What is Alimova balka and where is it?
This is a wooded tract-gorge of the Inner Range of the Crimean Mountains in the Bakhchisaray district, about 3.2 km long. It stretches along the southern slope of the Kachyna Canyon opposite the Kachi-Kalyon Monastery and reaches the Kacha River.
Where does this name come from?
Balka was named in honor of Alim - a Tatar robber of the 19th century, whom the locals turned into their Robin Hood. There is also a source of Alim-Chokrak bearing the same name.
How to get there?
The landmark is the village of Bashtanivka, from which the beam begins. A tourist route (#78/77) has been laid through the gorge, leading to the Kubyshka rock, so it is worth going on foot.
What is interesting to see?
Relic grove of berry yew with trees about a thousand years old, stone chaos and rocky cliffs, Kacheje and Alim Chokrak springs. From the historical - a parking lot of the Mesolithic era (Alim's canopy), the ruins of a medieval fortress on the Burun-Kaya rock and Tavr stone boxes.
When is the best time to go?
The beam is completely covered with a broad-leaved forest - beech, dogwood, yew, so it is most spectacular in the warm, snowless season, when the paths are dry and the forest is green or in autumn colors.
