Hega Waterfall lies on the Gega River in Abkhazia, on the northern spurs of the Gagra ridge, in the Gudaut district, at an altitude of about 530 meters above sea level. The water falls from a height of about 70 meters (according to other sources, 50-55) and remains icy even in the height of summer.
Besides the jet itself, there is something to see here: to the right of the waterfall opens a grotto with an opening about 15 meters high, and an underground cave more than 300 meters long hides nearby. This place is well known to moviegoers - it was here that the fight scene from "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson" was filmed, as well as "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi" and "Sportloto-82".
The road here is mountainous, so tourists are usually taken by SUV as part of the excursion. It is worth going in the warm season: the snow near the waterfall lies almost until the end of summer, and until then part of the path is impassable.
