Mount Koklyuk

Mount Koklyuk

Viewpoint 📍 Crimea

Koklyuk is a low mountain near Koktebel, in the east of Crimea, about 345 meters high. It is famous not because of its height, but because of the landscape: from here you can simultaneously see the Black Sea and the valley with the silhouette of the extinct Kara-Dag volcano.

A white rotunda-colonnade, erected in 1956, stands on the top. At first it was called the Arbor of the Winds, and later it was given a more poetic name - Starfall of Memories, by which it is mostly known by tourists.

The place turns out to be rather contemplative: I went up, walked around the columns, watched how the valley flows to the sea. It is best to come here in clear weather, when the horizon is not hidden in the haze.
