What is the Taraktash trail?

A mountain hiking trail in the Crimea above Yalta, leading from the Uchan-Su waterfall to the Yalta Yayla. The name is Crimean Tatar and means "stone ridge" - don't be surprised by the rocks of bizarre shapes along the way.

How long is it and how steep is the climb?

About 3.5 km with a height difference of about 600 meters. The ascent takes 3-4 hours, the descent is more pleasant - 2-2.5 hours.

How to get to the trailhead?

The route starts near the Uchan-Su waterfall above Yalta, and leads to the mountain plateau (yaila). It is logical to go from the bottom up, from the waterfall.

What interesting things will you see on the way?

The path leads through an oak forest, gradually changing to pine, past rocks of strange shapes. The road is an observation deck and a spring with a 1904 plaque.

Who and when paved this path?

It was built in the 19th century by members of the Yalta branch of the Crimean Mountain Club under the leadership of doctor V.M. Dmitriev. In 1965, the path was updated by adding parapets and stairs.
