FAQFrequently asked questions

What is the Tea House in Alupka?

This is a classic pavilion on the territory of the Vorontsov Palace Park, built in 1829. Despite the chamber name, the building stands next to the sea and is made in a strict classical style, which contrasts noticeably with the Moorish-Gothic look of the palace itself.

Who built it and when?

The pavilion appeared in 1829 according to the project of the architect F. Elson, who worked on the estate of Count Mykhailo Vorontsov. The palace ensemble itself was built according to the project of the Englishman Edward Blore during the years 1828-1848.

How to get to the Tea House?

It is located in the lower part of Alupkin Park, near the seashore, so the way there is a descent through the amphitheater park from the palace to the sea. On the way you will pass an Italian garden, fountains and dozens of exotic plants.

What can be seen there today?

The house survived and is part of the Alupka Palace and Park Reserve, working as an exhibition space. Thematic expositions are shown here - for example, ancient maps of the Crimea and materials about the sea connections of the Vorontsov family.

When is the best time to come?

Since the main value is the park itself on the way to the house, it is most pleasant here in the warm season, when the fountains are working and the magnolias, cypresses and redwoods are turning green. The park was laid out by the German gardener Karl Kebach, and a walk through it is worth special attention.
