Durmitor is a mountain massif in northwestern Montenegro, part of the Dinaric Highlands. It has been a national park since 1952, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1980. The highest peak is Bobotov Kuk (2,523 m), and it is only one of 48 peaks that exceed 2,000 meters.

The main tourist hub is the town of Zabljak, where the majority of hotels and services are concentrated; it is convenient to start routes from there. In winter, Durmitor turns into a ski and snowboard resort, and in summer it is an area for trekking, mountaineering and water sports.

The park has 18 glacial lakes, which the locals gently call "mountain eyes", the most famous of them is Black Lake. And the Tara River flows nearby with its canyon 80 km long and up to 1,300 m deep, the deepest in Europe.
