Trip plan

06:30 Group gathering on Galitskaya Square in Lviv.

07:00 Departure from Lviv by chartered bus. The route runs through the cities of Stryi, Dolina and Nadvirnaya. You will hear interesting facts from the life of the local population, the history of cities, local traditions, as well as safety information while climbing Hoverla. In the city of Stryi - stop for breakfast.

11:00 Arrival in Yaremcha, stop near the Probiy waterfall, visit to the souvenir fair.

13:00 Arrival at the Zaroslyak camp site. Preparing to climb to the top. We begin our conquest of the peak from a height of 1330 meters, to the top 700 meters up. First, the path goes through the forest, after some time a long climb to the top begins. The forest gradually thins out and you find yourself in an open area.

15:00 Intermediate peak - Mount Goverlyanka (Malaya Goverla). Its height is 1760 meters.

17:00 Most of the group has reached the top. The stragglers will be here in a few minutes and then we can take a group photo at the top. After this, you will have about 40 minutes to admire the views, have a snack, and call your family. True, the signal from most mobile operators here is not very stable. In good weather, Hoverla offers an amazing view of the entire Montenegrin range, and neighboring mountain ranges up to the Romanian Carpathians. In bad weather, your stay at the summit will be somewhat shortened.

18:00 We begin the descent. Depending on the weather and your desire, we can take a different trail, a shorter and steeper one.

20:00 Return to the Zaroslyak camp site. We get on the bus and head back.

23:00-00:00 Arrival in Lviv.

Scheme of the climb to Hoverla

The above plan is for informational purposes only. Depending on the condition of the group, weather conditions, and other factors, the guide can make significant changes to the program. It is extremely unlikely, but it is still possible that you will never reach the top due to the weather. During a strong thunderstorm, climbing Hoverla is extremely dangerous, as lightning often strikes the summit.

Tour cost:

The price includes: instructor work, transfer (Lviv-Zaroslyak-Lviv), group first aid kit.

The price does not include: meals, recreational fee for entering the territory of the Carpathian Nature Reserve (20 hryvnia), additional costs outside the program.

Payment procedure. To reserve a place in a group, you must make a full prepayment - transfer 100% of the tour cost to the card in Privat Bank. In case of refusal to participate, the prepayment is not refunded.

What to take with you

This list applies specifically to the summer tour to Hoverla.

  • Raincoat or poncho - you can buy a regular polyethylene one
  • Urban Backpack - In it you can put a raincoat, windbreaker, water bottle, snack.
  • Windbreaker - If you don't have a windbreaker, you can take a ski jacket or raincoat. Or take a fleece + jacket from a tracksuit.
  • Sneakers - with good lacing, comfortable. You cannot wear sneakers or sneakers with thin and slippery soles.
  • Hat - it’s best to take a cap, buff, bandana, and protect your head from the sun.
  • Spare socks - if your feet get wet.
  • Tracksuit - or any comfortable clothing. It's better not to wear jeans.
  • Water Bottle - You should have a 1.5 or 2 liter bottle of water with you. Or you can take a thermos with tea with you.
  • Snack - sandwiches and vegetables are best for this. You can also take a couple of chocolates and some nuts with you to snack on the go.

If the weather is rainy, then most likely you will return from the climb slightly dirty and damp. In this case, you can take extra socks and clean clothes with you for the trip back. But don’t drag them with you to the top, but leave them on the bus for the duration of the walk.

Mount Petros (height 2020 meters) in the Carpathians

Can I handle it?

If you have a desire to conquer the highest mountain in Ukraine, then you can do it. The main thing is desire! Yes, it will be difficult, but hundreds of people with very different levels of training conquer this peak every year. So you can too.

We would not recommend bringing children under 6 years of age. And participants with medical contraindications should consult a doctor before traveling.

What to prepare for

Physical activity will be within reason. Out of habit, the first meters of the climb will seem exhausting to you, your heart will want to jump out of your chest. But if you don’t rush, walk slowly and measuredly, then you will quickly “get involved” and be able to admire the scenery rather than gasp for air. Take your time!

The weather in the Carpathians is changeable. It's better to check before leaving weather forecast (for the settlements of Yasinya or Rakhiv) and adjust your clothing (for example, take warm clothes). Even if the weather forecast promises sun and heat, a raincoat and windbreaker are still required. The weather in the Carpathians is very changeable; it can change at any time. A couple of minutes ago it was hot, the sun was shining, and then a cloud came and it started raining and the wind rose. The temperature can very quickly drop from +25 to +5. And it will be better if you are ready for this.
