Day by dayItinerary

Day 1. Ivano-Frankivsk. Bukhtivetsky waterfall.

Group meeting in Ivano-Frankivsk. Transfer to Pasechna (50 km from Yves-Fres). We walk along the picturesque Bukhtivets river under picturesque steep cliffs. 7 km from the start of the route we descend to the Bukhtivetsky waterfall. The waterfall is about 10m high and is very picturesque. Next to it there are several smaller waterfalls; in frosty weather they turn into bizarre ice stalactites. Next we climb the Dil ridge (966m), the road goes through a beech forest. From the meadow on the ridge crest there is a wonderful view of the snow-capped Gorgan ridges and the village of Manyava. The descent to Manyava is along a steep road in a coniferous forest. We spend the night in the forest near the Manyavka river. The length of the route is 6-8 hours.

2

Day 2. Manyavsky waterfall.

Today we will see the famous Manyavsky waterfall in the Carpathians, about 16m high. The waterfall is located in a shady canyon and we will examine it from both above and below. Next, through the coniferous and beech forest we go to the Komarniki meadow, here in a shepherd’s house (we will spend the night in the cradle.) The length of the route is 4-6 hours.

3

Day 3. Chortka Ridge.

We climb the Chortka ridge (1330m) and after walking several kilometers along this wild ridge covered with open forest and stone placers, we descend to the picturesque Ripna meadow, from where we descend lower to a shepherd’s cradle where we will spend the night. The length of the route is 5-7 hours.

4

Day 4. Stanimir Ridge.

We climb the Stanimir ridge (1580m) through clearings and dense spruce forests and spend the night in a kolyba on it, or, if we have time, below it on the Maksimets pass, where we spend the night in a good house. From the ridge there is a wonderful view of many peaks of the Carpathians. The length of the route is 5-7 hours.

5

Day 5. Le Havre Pass.

We climb the Le Havre pass between the Gorgan peaks of Le Havre (1551m) and Korotkan (1675m). Through a dense coniferous forest interspersed with meadows we come out to the Okopy clearing where we spend the night in a house. The length of the route is 5-7 hours.

A real culinary revelation for us was soup made from dried vegetables. Before the hike, we each dried 2 carrots, 1 beet and half a cabbage in the oven, and now every evening we enjoyed unearthly aromas. Overall, I highly recommend it.
